Rent or buy?

Rent for a recovery measured in weeks or months, or while a diagnosis settles. Buy when the equipment will be used for a year or more and the model is known to suit the patient — and even then, a month on rent first is the cheapest way to find out.

What to arrange first

For a patient coming home from hospital, in this order:

The bed — a Fowler bed if they will be in it more than a few days.
Breathing support the doctor has prescribed: oxygen concentrator, BiPAP or CPAP.
Mobility — a wheelchair, walker or commode chair for the distance to the bathroom.
Monitoring, if the doctor has asked for readings through the day.

Is delivery included in the rent?

Yes — delivery, installation and collection are included in the monthly price. Consumables such as masks, tubing and sheets are billed as used.

Do I need a prescription?
